How do I find the perfect wine pairing for beef?

For me, it's Red. That's it.

The perfect wine pairing for beef.

I love white wine but red is the only way to go when it comes to beef. (salads are perhaps an exception to the rule.) Now within the broad spectrum of red wine there are a lot of choices.

I prefer a cabernet sauvignon wine with steak.

But there are many choices within that category so we’ll simply narrow the choices to help you find a great wine pairing for beef.

A GREAT steak deserves a GREAT wine.

Red wine compliments beef in a savory way that I would describe as a flavor explosion. Their natural affinity enhances both the beef and the wine.

Try to match the quality of your steak and wine; a great steak with a great wine, an average steak with an average wine. Otherwise you’ll likely spend your entire meal complaining about the mismatch.

Try pairing fruity wines with unusual ethnic dishes, spicy foods with full-bodied wines.

Personal preference varies greatly when it comes to wine, therefore I recommend experimentation you’ll likely find a pairing you love!

I pair cabernet sauvignon with steak since I prefer a well-marbled steak. The body and robust flavor of the cabernet can hold up to the juicy and flavorful steak. Cabernet sauvignon is a good choice for any beef dish.

A few other “bold” wines I like with beef are merlot and petite sirah.

Obviously there are many choices within those categories so we’ll simply narrow the choices to help you find a great wine to serve with dinner.

Remember pair great steak with great wine!

If you're interested in pairing beer with steak make sure you read this!

If you’re a total wine newbie then it’s a good idea to choose something with a point value of atleast 90 then do a sort by price. It doesn’t really matter right now what the points mean just trust me on this.

Price
is another factor, there’s no sense wasting time sorting through $50 bottles of wine if your budget is $15.

If there isn’t something in your price range with a 90 or better rating, you may need to look at the lower rated wines.

Now, let's find the PERFECT wine!
