As a young girl growing up on a beef cattle farm in Ohio, (steak-pro in training) I spent my days helping my dad check cows, fix fence & every other job on the farm.
I loved cattle, and shared my dad's passion for them.
Participating in 4-H with beef breeding and steer projects, I spent hours feeding, grooming & exercising them. But the nutrition of my steers and heifers wasn't the ONLY thing I was learning...
Like today's busy mom's, my mother worked away from home. This gave me the opportunity to learn to cook for my dad and brothers.
But I went away to college and my parent's bought a ranch in Oklahoma so they were no longer my "recipe testers".
My husband then became my "guinea pig" and he would tell you...not ALL the recipes were keepers! But hey I'm a creative gal and love a challenge.
My husband and I co-owned and operated one of the largest privately owned beef cattle seedstock operations in the United States. In 2002, we were named Co-Young Cattleman of the Year in Ohio.
