Today was one of those days. The kids and I went to a local apple butter festival and had a great time but after a long day in the cool weather I didn't feel like spending a long time cooking dinner. On the way home I started thinking about soup...maybe potato soup. So I did just that...with a twist. A good one so I decided to share it with you even though it is "off topic"!Saute 1/4 c sweet vidalia onion, 1 clove garlic until tender. Add two slices prosciutto (cut into smallish pieces). Add three small potatoes cubed, one stalk celery diced, about 6 c water or chicken stock, I also added four cooked chicken wings. Cook for about 20 minutes then add a small handful of fresh terragon, a few sprigs of fresh dill, four tbsp sea salt, 10 peppercorns, 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper, 1 c fresh mushrooms, 1 c buttermilk, 1 c heavy cream, 2 tbsp philadelphia cream cheese. Simmer until slightly thickened. Meanwhile prepare homemade croutons. I used homemade sour dough bread with fresh organic butter then toasted in oven til hard. Raven's Glenn Food and Wine Pairing
Tomorrow I'm off to a small Ohio food and wine pairing event. Raven's Glenn situated in east central Ohio also features an onsite Italian restaurant which will host the special winemaker's reserve dinner. Each course will be paired with one of their wines. I am looking forward to it as there are not many of these events in this area. Stay tuned and I will let you know if you should check it out! Easy Baked Steak Recipe

Guys who never cook another day in their lives get excited and have their own "routine" for game day tailgating. I love that the food is unpretentious and creates a sense of comraderie among fans. BBQ beef is a perfect recipe for tailgating. Once cooked it keeps perfectly in a crockpot to keep warm for hours of snacking. Rib steaks lightly rubbed with olive oil and a dash of sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Sliced mushrooms sauted in butter and a nice cabernet, mmm. Baked tomatoes stuffed with homemade bread, olive oil, parmesean cheese, salt, pepper, and smoked salmon. Sauted spinach with olive oil and garlic.
